Elsie Ward (13 January 1903 – 6 November 2013) was a Barbadian-Saint Lucian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Elsie Ward born in Barbados on 13 January 1903. Her parents were James Christopher Ward and Mary Elizabeth Hall-Ward. She had nine siblings.
She emigrated to St. Lucia for work in the early 1940's. She returned to Barbados for shor periods.
She had nine children (four of whom was alive in her 109th birthday in 2012). She retired in 1960 from her job as domestic worker.
On her 109th birthday in 2012, her last sibling was still alive aged 85. She had 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren living in the United States, the United Kingdom, and St. Lucia. She lived with her son Richard Ward.
Ward died in Corinth, Saint Lucia on 6 November 2013 at the age of 110 years, 297 days.
