Elvira de Jesus Caldeira Figueiredo (27 July 1886 – 5 June 1998) was a Portuguese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group.

Biography

Elvira de Jesus Caldeira was born in Anceriz, Arganil, Coimbra District, Portugal on 27 July 1886 to Jose Caldeira and Pulqueria Rosa.

She married in 1914 at the age of 27 with Jose Pereira Quaresma de Figueiredo and was widowed seven years after the wedding. The couple had one daughter. Later she married with Jose Goncalves Junior and they had nine children, four of them died young. She was widowed in 1950.

Longevity was common in her family: both of her parents lived over 100 years, her sister Maria Jose Morais (1893-fl.1996) reached the age of 103, her sister Rita (1889-1992) lived 102 years, her sister Maria Adelaide (1880-1978) lived 97 years and her sister Maria Augusta (1883-1973) lived 89 years.

Jesus Caldeira died in Cerdeira, Arganil, Coimbra District, Portugal on 5 June 1998, aged 111 years, 313 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest person ever from Portugal.
