Emilia Hernandez de Ramos [Spanish: Hernández] (9 June 1889 – 26 January 2001) was a Puerto Rican supercentenarian who was the oldest known living person in Puerto Rico at the time of her death. Her age is validated by Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS) and the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Emilia Hernandez de Ramos was born in Piedra Gorda, Camuy, Puerto Rico on 9 June 1889.

At some point in her life, she married Diego T. Ramos (1886–1973), a Corporal in the United States Army who served in World War I.

She became the oldest known living person in Puerto Rico, following the death of Maria Echeandia Cumpiano on 25 December 1997.

In June 1999, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.

She died in San Juan, Puerto Rico on 26 January 2001 at the age of 111 years, 231 days. Following her death, Ramona Trinidad Iglesias-Jordan became the oldest known living person in Puerto Rico.

Her age was validated by LAS on 5 May 2021, and was later accepted by LongeviQuest (LQ).
