Emilie Coqueran [French: Émilie] (18 September 1862 – 18 March 1971) was a French centenarian who was the oldest known living person in France at the time of her death. She lived in the French overseas territory of Martinique.
Biography[]
Emilie Coqueran was born in Le Carbet, Martinique, France on 18 September 1862. She never married. Until 1930, she lived with her parents in Fonds Mascret, a neighbourhood in Fonds-Saint-Denis. Then, she moved in Le Carbet with her younger sister Valentine (aged 89 in 1967).
Following the death of 107-year-old Eugenie Proux on 7 March 1970, Coqueran became the oldest known living person in France.
Emilie Coqueran died in Le Carbet, Martinique, France on 17 March 1971, at the age of 108 years, 181 days. Following her death, then-108-year-old Laurence Entiope became the oldest known living person in France and Martinique.
