Emilija Kancut (5 July 1893 – 21 December 2000) was a Slovenian centenarian who was the oldest known living person in Slovenia at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Emilija Kancut was born in the village of Hlevnik, Brda, Gorizia, Austria-Hungary (now Slovenia), on 5 July 1893. At some point, she married, and had eight children.
On 5 July 1993, she celebrated her 100th birthday, becoming a centenarian. At the age of 107, she had eight living children, 14 grand-children, 18 great grand-children and two great great grand-children.
On 29 June 1998, following the death of 106-year-old Franc Jarc, she became the oldest known living person in Slovenia.
Emilija Kancut died in Solkan, Nova Gorica, Gorizia, Slovenia, on 21 December 2000, at the age of 107 years, 169 days. Following her death, then 103-year-old Marija Bandelj became the oldest known living person in Slovenia.
