Emma Jefferies (11 August 1899 – 20 August 2011) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Emma Jefferies was born in Chase City, Virginia on 11 August 1899 to her parents, William and Delia Toone, the same city which she went to school and then taught in the Chase City public schools. Jefferies was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church for 80 years, as well as a Sunday school teacher. Employed during World War 2, she was an assembler in the Munitions Industry in Bridgeport Connecticut.
In August 2009, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Emma Jefferies died in New York State, USA on 20 August 2011 at the age of 112 years, 9 days. She was survived by one daughter and grandchildren and some other family members.
Her age was verified by Gabriel Ainsworth, Filipe Prista Lucas, Anson Davis, and Stefan Jamin, and (posthumously) validated by the GRG on 24 June 2016.
