Emma Louisa Rooke (26 January 1846 – 7 May 1953) was a British centenarian who was the oldest known person in the United Kingdom at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Emma Rooke was born on 26 January 1846 in Hoxton, Middlesex, UK (now in London). In her later life, Rooke was being cared for by her niece, Grace Rooke. Neither of them ever married or had children.
Rooke moved to Worthing, Sussex, in the early 20th century. She was the oldest person in the UK from 5 March 1953 (following the death of Elizabeth Whitehead) until her own death on 7 May 1953, aged 107 years, 101 days. Her successor was Margaret Lunn, who died 26 days later.
