Emma Jane van der Karr (née Riley; 29 November 1869 – 5 December 1981) was a validated American supercentenarian.
Biography[]
Emma Jane van der Karr was born as Emma Jane Riley in Big Flats, Chemung, New York as the daughter of Michael and Sarah Frances Riley. The family moved to Barton, New York when Emma was a young child. She married George van der Karr and had five children.
She lived in Barton until 1958 when she moved to Waverly, Tioga, New York to live with her son. She moved in with a grandson following her son's death. Emma van der Karr died in Waverly, New York on 5 December 1981, aged 112 years, 6 days. At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest living person in the world, behind Nellie Spencer.
