Etelvina "Telva" Eulogia Fernandez Suarez (18 November 1907 – 24 November 2017) was a Spanish supercentenarian whose age was validated by Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2020.
Biography
Etelvina Eulogia was born in El Forcon, Asturias, Spain on 18 November 1907. When she was child, her father Manuel was forced to emigrate to West Virginia. Her mother Adela get responsibility of educating and raising their five children, but with help of eldest daughter Etelvina.
Her father, brother and boyfriend died during the Spanish Civil War. After the war, Etelvina continues to live in El Forcon until her mother's death. She decided to work as a domestic worker in Aviles. Later she moved to work in Madrid. After many years of hard work, she retired and continued to live in apartment in Aviles. Etelvina never married and sarcastically claimed that this was one of the secrets of her longevity.
Etelvina died in Aviles, Asturias, Spain on 24 November 2017 at age of 110 years, 6 days.
