Etsu Chihara [Japanese: 千原エツ] (25 August 1912 – fl.30 September 2022) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Etsu Chihara was born in Japan on 25 August 1912. At the age of 105, she still was a member of the Yomeikai elderly club in Asahigaoka District, Hachinohe. At the time, she still was able to knit, and to sew zokins (dust cloths).
At the end of August 2019, Chihara was listed in city statistics as the second-oldest living person in Hachinohe, after Sue Ogasawara (1910–2019). In July 2020, aged 108, she was reported to be in good health, and still assisted to the reunions of Hachinohe Elderly People Federation.
Etsu Chihara was last confirmed alive in Odate, Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, Japan, on 30 September 2022, at the age of 110 years, 36 days. On 31 October 2022, she went to limbo, as only one 110-year-old woman (Fuchie Sasaki, born September 1912) was listed in the city statistics.
