Eugenie Henriette Roux [French: Eugénie] (née Clegnac [French: Clégnac]; 24 January 1874 – 20 June 1986) was a French supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was also the oldest French person ever, until her age was surpassed by Jeanne Calment on 21 June 1986.


Eugenie Roux was born in Saint-Claude, Jura, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, France on 24 January 1874.

She became the oldest known living person in France, following the death of 109-year-old Elvire Mendiboure on 25 April 1981.

On 31 March 1986, she surpassed the age of Augustine Tessier, becoming the oldest French person ever.

Eugenie Roux died in her house in Montchat neighbourhood, in the 3rd district of Lyon, Rhone (now Metropole de Lyon), Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France on 20 June 1986, at the age of 112 years, 147 days. Following her death, then-111-year-old Jeanne Calment became the oldest known living person in France.
