Eva Marie Saint (born 4 July 1924) is an American retired actress and centenarian who has starred in films, on Broadway, and on television in a career spanning seven decades. As of July 2024, Saint is the oldest-living and earliest-surviving Academy Award winner. She is one of the last living stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Biography[]
Saint was born on 4 July 1924 in Newark, New Jersey, USA, to John Merle Saint and Eva Marie (née Rice) Saint. Her parents were Quakers. She attended Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, New York, graduating in 1942.
Saint married director Jeffrey Hayden on 28 October 1951. They remained married for 65 years until his death in 2016. They had two children, Darrell and Laurette; Darrell was born just two days after she won her Oscar in 1955. Saint has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame—one for motion pictures and one for television.
She celebrated her 100th birthday in July 2024, becoming a centenarian.
