Evangelista "Angelita" Luisa Lopez de Contarino (21 June 1907 – 28 August 2021) was an Argentinian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She is currently the oldest Argentinian-born person ever and the second-oldest person ever in Argentina, behind Casilda Benegas.
Biography[]
Evangelista Luisa Lopez was born in Villa Constitucion, Province of Santa Fe, Argentina on 21 June 1907. In 1989, at the age of 82, she moved to Mar del Plata with her husband and children. She had 6 children.
Evangelista Luisa made tissues and cared for her plants. According to her granddaughter: She's always doing things, she likes to talk a lot. At the age of 112, she had 16 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. On her 112th birthday, she revealed the secret of her longevity: take a glass of wine every day at lunch...
In June 2020, she celebrated her 113th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.
On 29 April 2021, aged 113, Lopez got vaccinated against COVID-19, making her one of the oldest people to receive the vaccine.
Evangelista Luisa Lopez died from pneumonia in Don Bosco, Mar del Plata, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina on 28 August 2021 at the age of 114 years, 68 days. She lived with her daughter Sara (aged 89 in 2019) and her son Mario (aged 86 in 2019).
