Evelyn Irene Folstrom (née St. John; 10 November 1906 – 22 February 2017) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was one of the oldest known people in Minnesota, USA, when she died.

Biography

Evelyn Folstrom was born as Evelyn Irene St. John in Springfield, Cottonwood, Minnesota, USA, on 10 November 1906. She was the sixth of seven children born to George Lloyd St. John and Elizabeth (née Pennington) St. John.

When she received her teaching certificate, she taught in country schools around Minnesota. Evelyn married George Folstrom in Salinas, California on 12 September 1942. After George was discharged from the Army, the couple settled on a farm in Welch, Minnesota. Evelyn and George had a daughter, Rebecca "Becky", on 20 February 1949, who later married Tom Franklin.

After Becky's birth, Evelyn and George became church pastors. She loved children and taught piano lessons to all who wanted to learn. When they retired from church ministry, the couple moved to Delano, Minnesota, where they led Bible Studies and loved extending hospitality to lots of people.

George died in 1999, after 57 years of marriage. In 2001, Evelyn moved to Northfield, Minnesota, where she remained for the rest of her life. In her final hours, she made a clear presentation of the Gospel to those who looked after her.

Folstrom died in Northfield, Rice County, Minnesota, USA, on 22 February 2017 at the age of 110 years, 104 days. She was survived by her 68-year-old daughter Becky, two grandsons (Todd and Tim), 13 great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Cele Winkler, and many (great) nieces and (great) nephews.
