Evelyn Margaret Ralston (17 October 1899 – 29 December 2010) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Evelyn Ralston was born at home in Lowell Avenue, situated in Chicago, Illinois, USA on 17 October 1899. Her parents were Peter William Ralston (who lived to age 90) and Hannah McAffee Ralston (who lived to age 83). She had three brothers: Kenneth (who lived to age 96), Thomas (who lived to age 95), and William (who lived to age 80). Her sister, Dorothy, died of scarlet fever at the age of 19.
Ralston grew up on Lowell Avenue and Irving Park Road in the Northwest Side of Chicago. She never married. In 1953, she sold her parents' house and moved to Evanston. In 1988, she moved in the residence The Mather in Evanston.
In her last years, Baltson cooperated with Boston University Medical Center's New England Centenarian Study researchers. Her age was verified by Filipe Prista Lucas and Nick Ornstein, and validated by the GRG on 2 July 2010.
Ralston was in very good health until the end of her life. She hadn't any arthritis. Around 17 December 2010, she caught a cold, which led to pneumonia.
Evelyn Ralston died in Evanston, Illinois, USA on 29 December 2010, at the age of 111 years, 73 days.
