Fanny Hopkins (née Dowler; 21 April 1850 – 16 February 1957) was a British centenarian who was the oldest known living person (citation needed) in the United Kingdom at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Fanny Dowler was born on 21 April 1850 in South Littleton, England, United Kingdom, to William and Mary Dowler. She married John Hopkins (1869 – 1933), and they four children: Mabel, Emily, Francis and Florence (married Hayman). Florence lived to be a centenarian herself (28 August 1889 – January 1990).
Hopkins became the oldest person in the UK on 9 December 1956, after the death of Caroline Beale. She died on 16 February 1957, aged 106 years, 301 days, and was succeeded as the UK's oldest person by Elizabeth Etheridge (1850 – 1957).
