Felicie Cormier (neé Young; 9 November 1879? – 14 April 1998) was a claimant to the title of world's oldest living person whose age is currently unvalidated by the Guinness World Records (GWR).
Biography
Felicie Cormier was allegedly born as Felicie Young on 9 November 1879 in New Iberia, Louisiana, the daughter of freed slaves. She had no birth certificate to prove her age. She later lived in Morgan City and New Orleans, where she met her husband, Joseph Ellis Cormier, with whom she had seven children. Joseph already had six children before they met.
In her later years, Cormier lived in her own house in Crowley Louisiana, attended only by a part-time nursing assistant, before moving in to a nursing home in September 1997. She neither smoked nor drank, and attributed her alleged longevity to taking care of her self and going to bed early and getting up early.
Felicie Cormier died on 14 April 1998 in Crowley, Louisiana, at the claimed age of 118 years, 156 days. Her death came two days before the death of the official world's oldest validated person, Marie-Louise Meilleur, who was aged 117 years, 230 days.
