Felipe Juzgado Herranz (11 April 1911 - 26 April 2021) was a Spanish supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of his death, he was the second oldest living man in Spain, after Saturnino de la Fuente Garcia.
Biography
Juzgado Herranz was born in Chozas de Canales, Toledo, Spain on 11 April 1911. His family grew fruits and vegetables in a garden outside their house, which they would sell in the city. He married Ángeles Cristeta and moved to Madrid, where he would work in construction, often repairing and refurbishing old convents, earning the respect and adoration from local nuns, who benefited greatly from his work. The couple had two children, José Luís and Isabel.
After several decades of living in Madrid, Juzgado Herranz and his wife chosed to move back to their place of birth in Chozas de Canales in 1980, where they would retire. He would often spend his time reading about mathematics and solving arithmetic. His wife passed away in 1998.
Juzgado Herranz has remained in good health into old age; he was hospitalized only once due to a stomach ulcer not long after the death of his wife, which doctors attributed to the stress of losing her. When he was 84, a physician noted his exemplary health, making the bold prediction that he would live to the age of 100, a guess which would later turn out to be conservative. He would enjoy going shopping by himself in the village, which he continued until he was around 106.
Juzgado Herranz died in Chozas de Canales, Toledo, Spain on 26 April 2021, at the age of 110 years, 15 days.
