Efrain Antonio Rios Garcia (Spanish: Efraín Antonio Ríos García; 4 April 1910 – 11 January 2024) was a Colombian supercentenarian whose age is currently pending validation by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of his death, he was the oldest known living person in Colombia, and the second-oldest known living man in the world, behind Juan Vicente Perez Mora. He is currently the oldest documented man ever from Colombia.

Biography

Rios Garcia was born in the countryside of the town of Fredonia, Antioquia Department, Colombia on 4 April 1910. He married Herminia Uribe in 1935, having already been a couple for a few years prior. He had 18 children: Javier, Lilliam, Irma, Hugo, Hector, Irma Ines, Flor, Virgilio, Efrain, German, Luz, Nidia, Saul, Nelson, Martha, Flor, Alvarol, and Ramiro.

His older brother, Francisco Luis Rios Garcia (1 October 1904 – 29 April 2011), died at the age of 106 years, 201 days, making them one of the longest-lived pairs of siblings in history.

In April 2013, at the age of 103, he and his wife Herminia celebrated 80 years of marriage (although their actual 80th wedding anniversary was in 2015). His wife died in 2015 at the age of 100.

In April 2020, he celebrated his 110th birthday. As of April 2020, he had 80 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

On 22 June 2023, the Gerontology Research Group announced on the World Supercentenarian Forum that Rios Garcia had been given the pending status.

He became the oldest known living person in Colombia, as well as the last known surviving man born in 1910, following the death of 113-year-old Eusebio Quintero Lopez on 16 July 2023.

On 15 August 2023, at the age of 113 years, 133 days, he surpassed the final age of Eusebio Quintero Lopez, becoming the oldest documented man ever from Colombia.

Rios Garcia died in Itagui, Antioquia Department, Colombia on 11 January 2024 at the age of 113 years, 282 days.
