Sylvia Gumberg (née Rosen; 2 December 1910 – 20 February 2023) was an American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group.

Biography[]

Sylvia Gumberg was born in Brooklyn, New York, USA on 2 December 1910. Her parents were Rubin Rosen (1879–1965) and Ida Rosen (née Zimmerman; 1880–1946), who were both Russian immigrants who came from what seems to be modern-day Poland. She had at least two brothers: Harry Rosen (1907–2004), and David Rosen (1913–2006).

Gumberg married twice and had at least three sons: Jerry, Ron, and Norm Friedman.

In December 2020, Gumberg celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.

Sylvia Gumberg died at the Sterling Aventura Assisted Living Facility in Aventura, Florida, USA on 20 February 2023 at the age of 112 years, 80 days. At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest known living person in Florida, behind Ada Avila.
