Filomena Canales Galvez [Spanish: Filomena Canales Gálvez] (6 May 1909 – 29 August 2020) was a Chilean supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023.
Biography[]
Filomena Canales Galvez was born in Cachapoal, Chile on 6 May 1909. She married Nicolas Berrios and had three daughters: Emilia (aged 72 in 2018), Jovita (aged 71 in 2018) and Elena (who died at the age of 64).
She suffered a hip injury during the 2010 earthquake.
In May 2019, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian. At time, she had 8 grandchildren (including Juan Carlos (aged 55 in 2018) and Veronica (aged 53 in 2018)) and 13 great-grandchildren.
Filomena Canales Galvez died in Rancagua, Cachapoal, Chile on 29 August 2020 at the age of 111 years, 115 days.
