Florence Vaughan Baker (19 November 1898 – 2 June 2011) was a Kittian and Nevisian supercentenarian whose age is currently pending validation by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She is currently the the national recordholder for longevity in Saint Kitts and Nevis of all time.

Biography[]

Florence Baker was born in Basseterre, Saint Kitts, Saint Kitts and Nevis, on 19 November 1898, to Joseph Richards and Mary Daniel, and resided in Newtown Basseterre until she was taken to Cayon in a basket by her mother who was in search of a job on Brighton’s Estate. In 1932, at the age of 34, she married and gave birth to three children.

On 19 November 2008, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian, as well as the first known supercentenarian ever recorded in Saint Kitts and Nevis. At the age of 112, she lived with her 93-year-old daughter Marion Grant, and her 63-year-old granddaughter Inez Buncombe.

Florence Baker died in Cayon, Saint Kitts, Saint Kitts and Nevis, on 2 June 2011, at the age of 112 years, 195 days. Following her death, then 102-year-old Herman Ward, became the oldest known living person in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
