Florence Krietenstein (née Dickhaut; 14 November 1905 – 22 December 2015) was an American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Florence Krietenstein was born in Posey County, Indiana, USA on 14 November 1905. She was one of nine children to John and Mary (née Wulf) Dickhaut.
Florence graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1923 and attended Evansville College for teacher's training. She had taught school for three years and helped her husband, Ted Krietenstein, on the farm. When she retired from teaching, she became the director of the school lunch program in the Mount Vernon district for 23 years. Not only serving the school, but community events as well.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church where a cookbook of recipes she used was published. Florence always enjoyed cooking, playing golf, bridge, and walking to the Mount Vernon football and basketball games.
Members of her family had also experienced longevity: her mother lived to be 101/102, her sister Lillian Rhoads lived to be 92, her brother Walter Dickhaut lived to be 93/94, her sister Olivia Dickhaut lived to be 99 and her sister Helen Aylsworth lived to be 108.
Florence Krietenstein died in Mount Vernon, Indiana, USA on 22 December 2015 at the age of 110 years, 38 days. She was survived by her son, Don Krietenstein, two daughters, Martha Schmitz and Phyllis Wright, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
