Florence Emma Poe (née Robinson; 24 August 1897 – 21 March 2010) was a validated American supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Missouri at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Florence Poe was born in Farmington, Missouri, USA on 24 August 1897 to William and Melinda Caroline (née Jones) Robinson, but was raised in Canalou, Missouri, USA. She was the youngest of nine children. Her mother lived to the age of 103.
She married Lester H. Poe on 28 February 1917, and they were married for 40 years before his death on 4 October 1957. Together they ran a neighborhood grocery store in Charleson, Missouri.
In 1988, Poe moved to live with her daughter in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, after starting to go blind. She later moved to a care center.
Poe died after suffering a stroke on 21 March 2010 at the age of 112 years, 209 days. At the time of her death, she had three children, nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.
