Floried Hillers nee Montgomery (1 January 1872 – 15 April 1983) was a validated American supercentenarian.
Biography
Floried Hillers was born as Floried Montgomery in Georgia, USA on 1 January 1872 to J. Byron Montgomery and Eugenia Florid Holt. She was a great-granddaughter of William Montgomery (1756-1825), soldier in the Virginia regiment of infantry. She married Charles W Hillers on 30 Dec 1891 in Campbell, Tennessee[1] and became a widow in 1910. In her later life, she moved to Philadelphia. By the time Hillers was 90 years old, she was invalided. One day, burglars stole her jewels that were worth $10,000. On top of that, Hillers’ landlord threatened to evict her because she used to forget to turn off the gas. It was reported later that year (1962) that she received 15 invitiations from her friends for Thanksgiving.
Floried Hillers died in Pennsylvania, USA on 15 April 1983, at the age of 111 years, 104 days. She was the third-oldest living person in the world at the time of her death. Emma Wilson and Augusta Holtz were older.
