Francesca Adelfio (4 March 1879 – 4 November 1989) was an Italian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG), European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) and recognized by LongeviQuest (LQ).
Biography[]
Adelfio was born in Palermo, Italy, on 4 March 1879. On her 110th birthday in March 1989, it was noted that she was still in good health and could vividly remember historical events over the past century.
Adelfio became the oldest living person in Italy on 17 August 1986 when 108-year-old Luigina Pepe died. Adelfio held the title for over 3 years before dying on 4 November 1989 at the age of 110 years, 245 days. Domenico Minervino then became the oldest living person in Italy. Her age was verified by Iacopo Sbrolli and Paolo Scarabaggio, and validated by the ESO on 23 June 2021.
