Francesca Nato (10 February 1907 – 16 April 2017) was an Italian supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2020. She was the 15th-oldest known living person in Italy when she died and the last known survivor of the 1908 Messina earthquake.
Biography
Francesca Nato was born on 10 February 1907 in Reggio Calabria, Calabria, Italy. During World War 2, she witnessed the deportation of her family and friends by the Nazis. In 1946, she voted in the Italian Institutional Referendum, choosing for Italy to remain a monarchy rather than become a republic.
In 1965, Francesca moved to San Donato Milanese in the Italian region of Lombardy. During her life, she never smoked, but accompanied her meals with a glass of wine each day. Francesca had 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren as of her 110th birthday.
Francesca Nato passed away on 16 April 2017 in San Donato Milanese, Milan, Lombardy, Italy, at the age of 110 years, 65 days.
