Francis C. Theis (15 August 1914 – 13 December 2020) was an American centenarian who was one of the oldest victims of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Biography[]
Theis was born on 15 August 1914 in Howland Township, Ohio, one of eight children born to Frank and Catherine (née Pheiffer) Theis. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On 11 April 1942, he married Doris Klingensmit, with whom he had four children. He spent 29 years working at a manufacturing company before retiring. He also coached Little League (youth) baseball.
In his later life, Theis lived in a nursing home in Warren, Ohio. He died due to complications from COVID-19 on 13 December 2020 at the age of 106 years, 120 days, making him one of the oldest victims of the coronavirus pandemic. At the time of his death, he had two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
