Francisca Pena Garcia [Spanish: Peña García], known as Sister Maria de Jesus [Spanish: María de Jesús] (5 May 1912 – 24 November 2022), was a Mexican supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023.

Biography[]

Francisca Pena Garcia was born in Penjamo, Guanajuato, Mexico on 5 May 1912. She became a nun at the age of 26, on 24 December 1938.

In May 2022, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.

She died in Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico on 24 November 2022 at the age of 110 years, 203 days.

Recognition[]

At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living nun in Mexico, as well as the sixth-oldest known (documented) living person in the country.
