Francisca de Paula Faria Figueiredo (2 April 1898 – 30 April 2009) was a Brazilian supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS). She is the oldest known person who died in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso.
Biography[]
Francisca de Paula Faria Figueiredo was born in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 2 April 1898. She was the eldest of seven children born to parents Cirilo Gomes de Faria and Isaura Pauperio de Faria. Her father was an immigrant from Portugal. She studied piano and was ranked in a music competition in Rio de Janeiro. Later, she studied in France and Switzerland. In her youth, she lived in the rich Swiss cantons of Rio de Janeiro, and spoke French fluently.
In 1919, at the age of 21, she stopped studying and married Alirio de Figueiredo. Her husband, a native of Cuiaba, resided in Rio de Janeiro where he studied law. They had at least one daughter, Ligia Faria de Figueiredo Ferreira. In 1930, the couple moved to Cuiaba, Mato Grosso. Eventually, they moved to Rosario Oeste, where her husband was appointed a judge.
In her later life, she was known as "Dona Chiquita".
Francisca de Paula Faria Figueiredo died in Cuiaba, Mato Grosso, Brazil, on 30 April 2009, at the age of 111 years, 28 days. Her age was verified by Stefan Maglov, Jeffrey Xu, and Gabriel Ainsworth, and validated by the LAS on 5 May 2022. The validation was later accepted by LongeviQuest (LQ).
