Galina Ivanovna Sadko (Russian: Галина Ивановна Садко; 11 March 1908 – 8 August 2019) was a Russian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Sadko was born in Komarova Street, Kasimov, Ryazan Oblast, Russian Empire (present-day Russia) on 11 March 1908. She was the youngest of the three sisters. Her father, Ivan Ivanovich Umnov was selling headdresses. After the death of her father in 1921, the maintenance of the family fell on the shoulders of her mother and maternal grandfather. After the death of her grandfather, her mother and elder sister Polina took care of her.
She graduated from the Kasimov Pedagogical School and later worked as a primary school teacher. She taught at the primary school in the village of Kopanovo, Yerakhtur region. She married Lev Sadko. With her husband, she travelled to Iran, Turkey and Armenia. In 1941, she returned to Kasimov with her husband. Her husband went to the Great Patriotic War on 23 June 1941 and disappeared at the front few weeks later. Since 1950, she worked in the Kasimov Museum of Local History as a research assistant. Galina had no children.
Since 1990, she lived in Kasimov Complex Social Service Center. Sadko died in Kasimov, Ryazan Oblast, Russia, on 8 August 2019 at the age of 111 years, 150 days.
