Genoveva "Bebang" Garcia (née Ferma; born 3 January 1916) is a Filipino centenarian who is currently the oldest known (documented) living person in the Philippines.
Biography[]
Genoveva Garcia was born in Mendez, Cavite Province, Philippines, on 3 January 1916 to Sixto Ferma and Maria Dimapilis. She had 2 siblings. She was christened on 16 January 1916. One of her uncles (1863–1962) lived to be 99-years-old. She married Sixto Garcia, the couple then had offspring.
In January 2016, she celebrated her 100th birthday, becoming a centenarian.
On 10 August 2021, at the age of 105, she got vaccinated against COVID-19, making her one of the oldest people in the Philippines to receive the vaccine.
On 10 March 2024, at the age of 108, she was awarded as the "Oldest Woman in the Province of Cavite" by her barangay, Anuling Lejos I, Mendez, Cavite to honor the celebration of Women's History Month; although Juana Tagle was the oldest living woman in the province of Cavite at the time.
On 26 April 2024, following the death of 109-year-old Juana Tagle, she became the oldest known living person in the province of Cavite.
On 28 August 2024, following the death of 109-year-old Adela Dela Cruz, she became the oldest known living woman in the Philippines.
On 15 July 2025, following the death of 111-year-old Pablo Amiling, she became the oldest known living person in the Philippines.
Genoveva Garcia currently lives in Anuling Lejos I, Mendez, Cavite Province, Philippines, at the age of 109 years, 316 days. She is reported to be strong and able to walk as of 2025.
