Georgi Iliev Georgiev [Bulgarian: Георги Илиев Георгиев] (27 March 1913 – 18 April 2020) was a Bulgarian centenarian who was the oldest known living man in Bulgaria at the time of his death. He also was the grandfather of actor Hristo Bonin.

Biography[]

Georgiev was born in Benkovski, Plovdiv Province, Bulgaria on 27 March 1913. In 1932, he was called up to serve in the Ninth Plovdiv Regiment. He resigned seven months later to help provide for his family. He would later be called up to serve again in 1939. His second deployment would last five months. In June 1945, Georgiev would return to his native village after serving three more deployments.

After the World War II, Georgiev would become a teacher. Working for the next few decades before retiring.

He became the oldest known living man in Bulgaria, following the death of 107-year-old Nedelcho Boikov on 5 March 2020.

Georgiev died in Benkovski, Plovdiv Province, Bulgaria on 18 April 2020 at the age of 107 years, 22 days. Following his death, then-106-year-old Todor Karagogov became the oldest known living man in Bulgaria.
