Georgios Koliopoulos [Greek: Γιώργος Κολιόπουλος] (20 February 1915 – 2 May 2023) was a Greek centenarian who was the oldest known living man and the oldest living World War II veteran in Greece at the time of his death.
Biography[]
Georgios Koliopoulos was born in the village of Kouvelia, Arcadia District, Peloponnese, Greece on 20 February 1915. He is a primary school graduate. He was assigned on 20 October 1936 to the 5th Cavalry Regiment in Goudi. Then, on 8 June 1937, because he was an excellent horseman, he was transferred to the Palace Guard and took care of King George's two horses. With the officer Bei Theodoros, they achieved a 2.20 meter obstacle Hyperspecies. Dismissed on 20 July 1938, after 20 months of service. He married Georgia Mitropoulou in 1939 and had 6 children.
He became the oldest known living man in Greece, following the death of 107-year-old Thomas Katsanos on 25 September 2021.
Koliopoulos died in Tripoli, Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece on 2 May 2023 at the age of 108 years, 71 days.
