Gerald Hessler Gilman (30 April 1893 – 1 January 2004) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Gerald Gilman was born in Springfield, Ohio, USA on 30 April 1893. His parents were Orris Gilman and Cora (née Weskey) Gilman. He moved to the Los Angeles area back in 1941. He worked initially as an auto mechanic and later as a model-maker for North American Aviation (later Boeing) building models for wind tunnels.

Gilman married Lillian Dinwiddie and had two children: Pauline (born 1917) and Gerald Jr. (1922–1923). Lillian died in 1956.

He lived with his daughter Pauline (aged 86 in July 2003) in the Canoga Care Center in Canoga Park, California. He stated that he believes that he has lived so long because he takes good care of himself and because he tries to "stay out of trouble.". He Became the oldest living man in California when 109-Year-Old Fred Flecther died on 19 April 2002

Gilman died in Los Angeles, California, USA on 1 January 2004 at the age of 110 years, 246 days. At the time of his death, he was the second-oldest known living man in the United States, behind Fred Hale.
