Germaine De(s)marais [French: Démarais] (née Clement; 30 December 1912 – 19 December 2022) was a French centenarian.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Germaine Demarais was born as Germaine Clement in Saint-Manvieu-Norrey, Calvados, Normandy, France on 30 December 1912. She grew up in the Saint-Gilles district in Caen. She married Andre Demarais in 1938. The couple had nine children.
Later Life and Death[]
After the death of her husband in 1981, Demarais moved in with one of her daughters in Ain department. Around her 100th birthday in 2012, she moved to Herouville-Saint-Clair. In 2015, she moved into a nursing home in the same commune.
Germaine Demarais died in Herouville-Saint-Clair, Calvados, Normandy, France on 19 December 2022, at the age of 109 years, 354 days, just 11 days short of her 110th birthday. At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living person in Calvados department.
