Germaine Charlotte Filet (née Maillasson; 25 October 1909 – 27 May 2021) was a French supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2022.
Biography[]
Filet was born in Saint-Sulpice-les-Feuilles, Haute-Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France on 25 October 1909. Her mother, widowed very early, had to raise her on her own. On 13 August 1932, she married Henry Lucien Filet (1909–1969) in Seine-et-Marne. She had at least one child, Gerard. Her husband was was a soldier during World War II. She was employed in a sewing factory where she worked for 10 hours per day.
At the age of 105, she was able to read without glasses. She was still gardening at the age of 106.
Filet died in Saint-Sulpice-les-Feuilles, Haute-Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France on 27 May 2021 at the age of 111 years, 214 days. At time of her death, she was the oldest living person in Haute-Vienne departement, and the second-oldest living person in Nouvelle-Aquitaine behind Juliette Bilde.
