Mary Jane Gertrude "Gertie" Nesbitt (3 July 1882 – 5 August 1992) was a British-born Australian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of death, she was the oldest living person in Australia.


Nesbitt was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom, on 3 July 1882. She was a devout Catholic. Her mother was a Catholic, and her father converted when he married. In England, she worked as a milliner and typist. She never married nor had children.

In 1962, she moved to Australia. She moved to Melbourne when her parents died. From the age of 70 until she was 90, she worked as a housekeeper for two priests. Until the age of 106, she lived in Burwood, Victoria, with her niece, Sadie Ramsay. Then, she moved to the Rosden Private Nursing Home in Burwood East. On 30 July 1992, Nesbitt became the oldest living person in Australia following the death of 111-year old Beatrice Pollock and held the title until her death 6 days later.

Nesbitt died in Burwood East, Victoria, Australia, on 5 August 1992, at the age of 110 years, 33 days.
