Gertrud Gross [German: Groß] (4 October 1907 – 4 March 2018) was a German supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the second-oldest living person in the federal state of Thuringia, Germany, behind Ilse Beck, until her death on 4 March 2018.
Biography
Gertrud Gross was born in Barsinghausen, Lower Saxony, Germany on 4 October 1907. At the age of 17, she moved to Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia, Germany. In December 1937, she married Kurt Gross in the Luther church and had three children with him; one of which, Ursel, Gertrud would live with in her apartment until Ursel’s death in June 2015.
Gertrud, then aged 107, moved out of her apartment and into an assisted living facility, where she has lived ever since. As of her 110th birthday, along with three children, she had several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Gross died in Erfurt, Thuringia, Germany, on 4 March 2018 at the age of 110 years, 151 days.
