Gertrude Schultz (née Unfried; 21 February 1862 – 29 February 1972) was the earliest known German-American emigrant supercentenarian. Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 20 November 2018.
Biography[]
Schultz was born Gertrude Ruth Unfried in Reil, Germany on 21 February 1862 as the daughter of Peter and Anna Maria Burg Unfried and emigrated to USA as a young girl. She married John Schultz in Limestone, Texas on 10 January 1887 and had three children. She was widowed in 1934.
Schultz died in Groesbeck, Limestone, Texas on 29 February 1972, aged 110 years, 8 days. She is one of the oldest people to die on leap day.
