Gertrude Bertha Stern (née Maizel; 27 February 1910 – 11 April 2022) was an American supercentenarian who was the oldest known person living in the U.S. state of Kansas at the time of her death. Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Gertrude Stern was born as Gertrude Bertha Maizel in Sioux City, Iowa, USA, on 27 February 1910, the oldest of four children born to David and Rose (née Superman) Maizel. Both of her parents were immigrants from Russia. She moved to Kansas City when she was 3 years old.
She married Morris Stern in February 1933. The couple had three children: Neuman, Philip, and Jaclyn. Her husband died in 1994. In February 2020, she celebrated her 110th birthday.
Stern died in Overland Park, Kansas, USA, on 11 April 2022 at the age of 112 years, 43 days.
