Giuseppe Mirabella (6 September 1901 – 30 March 2012) was an Italian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group. He was the oldest living man in Italy, since the death of Giovanni Ligato on 2 March 2012 until his own death four weeks later.
Biography
Giuseppe Mirabella, affectionately known as 'Zio Pippo', was born in the city of Catania on the island of Sicily in 1901.
He was married but had no children. His profession as a shoemaker led him, also, to work in Paris, France. He returned to Sicily and lived there his whole life.
Mirabella became a supercentenarian in September 2011. At that time, he said he was a fan of politics and football.
He died in Pedara, Catania, Sicily, at the age of 110 years, 206 days. After his death, Arturo Licata succeeded him as Italy's oldest man.
