Biography[]
Giuseppe Venturi was born in Marzabotto, Emilia-Romagna, Italy on 13 April 1912. One of his brothers, Elio, died as a partisan in Montefiorino during the World War II.
During his life he worked as a farmer, bricklayer and gardener before his retirement.
He married a woman called Elena (born 1912), who died at the age of 56. The couple had two children, including Rosanna (aged 85 in April 2021), with whom Venturi lived in his last years.
In his old age, Venturi remained very active and lucid. He drove his car until he was 94, and he also loved carving small wooden and terracotta figurines, a passion that had developed while he was in hiding during the World War II. Thanks to this passion, at the age of 100 he held his first art exhibition.
In January and April 2021, he received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
As of April 2021, he had three grandchildren and many great-grandchildren (the youngest was three years old and the oldest was 38).
Giuseppe Venturi became the oldest known living man in Italy, following the death of 109-year-old Gaudenzio Nobili on 14 November 2021.
Giuseppe Venturi died in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy on 26 November 2021 at the age of 109 years, 227 days due to bronchitis.
