Gizela Dvoncova [Slovak: Gizela Dvončová] (7 December 1916 – 28 May 2023) was a Slovakian centenarian who was the oldest known living person in Slovakia at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Gizela Dvoncova was born in Partizanske, Trencin Region, Austria-Hungary (now Slovakia), on 7 December 1916.
Dvoncova had always loved to sing. As of her 100th birthday in 2016, she was still able to sing, and was also very independent and patient, still being able to make her own food and work in her garden.
In February 2020, at the age of 103, Dvoncova voted in the Slovak parliamentary election. She stated that she had voted all her life, understood politics very well when she was younger, and encouraged her family to vote as well.
Following the death of 106-year-old Margita Bindasova on 1 May 2022, Dvoncova became the oldest known living person in Slovakia.
In 2023, Dvoncova had poor eyesight and she didn't read, but she still listened to the radio. She devoted her whole life to folklore. She had at least one son, Ljubomir (aged 77 in April 2023).
Gizela Dvoncova died in Partizanske, Trencin Region, Slovakia, on 28 May 2023, at the age of 106 years, 172 days. Following her death, then-105-year-old Ilona Szeker became the oldest known living person in Slovakia.
