Gladys Almeda Cole (née Lyon; 13 February 1903 – 2 July 2014) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was one of the oldest known people in New York at the time of her death.

Biography[]

Gladys Cole was born in Watertown, New York, USA, USA on 13 February 1903. Her parents were Frank Lyon and Florence (née Forsythe) Lyon.

She married John Cole on 12 November 1927. The couple had five children: Edward Cole, Earl Cole (c.1931–2020), Florence "Flo" Lyng, Robert Cole (1933–1983), and Richard "Jack" Cole. John died on 22 November 1990 at the age of 84. She lived at Samaritan Keep Home.

Gladys Cole died in Watertown, New York, USA on 2 July 2014 at the age of 111 years, 139 days. She was survived by four children Edward Cole, Earl Cole, Florence "Flo" Lyng, and Richard "Jack" Cole; one daughter-in-law Linda Cole; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
