Grace Cottrell was born Grace Blasy on 1 April 1878 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to parents Paul and Mary (née Gibson) Blasy as the youngest of 5 children. She married Rev. H. Edward Cottrell in Allegheny on 16 June 1905. The couple had 2 children, James and Elizabeth. Her husband died in 1961. She moved to Washington, Iowa the following year.
Grace Cottrell died on 10 January 1989 in Washington, Iowa, at the age of 110 years, 284 days.
