Gunhild “Gunnie” Stenerud Foerster (née Stenerud; 28 December 1893 – 4 February 2005) was a validated Norwegian-born American supercentenarian.
Biography
Gunhild Foerster was born in Oslo, Norway on 28 December 1893. Her parents were the vognmann Sigvard Stenerud and Nikoline Stenerud, both born 1864. She had four siblings: Magnhild, Hans, Sigrid and Finn Stenerud. Her mother died of tuberculosis in 1906.
She emigrated to America in September 1914. After the World War I, she married Arthur Foerster. They had a daughter: Marilyn.
Gunhild Foerster died in Seattle, Washington, USA on 4 February 2005 at the age of 111 years, 38 days. She is the second-oldest Norwegian emigrant ever behind Julia Lyng, and the seventh-oldest Norweigan-born supercentenarian of all time.
