Mary Gwendoline "Gwen" Moore (née Lloyd; 2 December 1911 – 31 March 2023) was a British-born Australian supercentenarian who, together with her older sister Lilian Priest, was the oldest known living siblings in the world until Priest's death on 6 June 2021. She was also the oldest known living person in Australia. Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Gwen Moore was born in Tredegar, Wales, UK on 2 December 1911 (claimed 27/28 November). She had at least two daughters: Joan and Jill.
Moore's sister Lilian Priest (7 November 1908 – 6 June 2021) who died in Swanage, Dorset, England, UK on 6 June 2021 at the age of 112 years, 211 days, was the oldest living person in the United Kingdom at the time of her death. She became the oldest known living person in Australia following the death of 111-year-old Ina Reid on 13 May 2022.
Moore's age was verified by GRG-UK Correspondent Oliver Trim, and was later validated by the GRG.
Gwen Moore died at the Bribie Cove nursing home in Bongaree, Queensland, Australia, on 31 March 2023 at the age of 111 years, 119 days.
