Haido Katsara [Greek: Χάιδω Κατσάρα] (27 March 1910 – 20 August 2019) was a Greek centenarian who was the oldest known living person in Greece at the time of her death.

Biography[]

Haido Katsara was born in the municipality of Elassona, Thessaly, Ottoman Empire (present-day Greece) on 27 March 1910. She was only 2.5 years old when the province of Elassona was liberated from the Turks, she was 12 years old in the Asia Minor disaster, 30 years old when Greece entered the World War II.

She became the oldest known living person in Greece, following the death of 111-year-old Eugenia Vrantis on 22 August 2017.

In July 2019, at the age of 109, she voted in the Greek elections, then she had 7 living children, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren.

Haido Katsara died in the village of Dolichi, municipality of Elassona, Thessaly, Greece on 20 August 2019 at the age of 109 years, 146 days. Following the her death, then 108-year-old Ioanna Proiou-Dimitriadou became the oldest known living person in Greece.
