Han Way Chin (3 August 1889? – 2 July 2001) was a Chinese-born American supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Han Way Chin claimed to have been born in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China on 3 August 1889.
At age 19 and still living in China, he married a woman selected by his parents. She died four years later.
In 1913, he married Lee Oi and they had children: Wally Chin, Jack Chin and Fong Fon Yu. He worked as a clerk for the old Jumbo Markets chain, Farmers Market and El Camino Market.
He moved to California in 1952. He retired at the age of 76. His wife died in 1984, after 73 years of marriage.
In his later years, he suffered from diabetes and suffered a fractured hip. He lived at Asian Community Nursing Home in Sacramento, California.
Han Way Chin died in Sacramento, California, USA on 2 July 2001 at the claimed age of 111 years, 333 days. He was survived by two sons Wally Chin and Jack Chin; one daughter Fong Fon Yu; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
